What goes in the box

Raspberry Almond Bakewell

Baked almond frangipane with crushed raspberry sunk level through it, finished with a scatter of pale almond flakes. Tart, nutty and properly old-school.

Built on a baked almond cream.

Strawberry Custard

Butter-yellow crème pâtissière under two or three large strawberry halves, set cut-side down so the seeded skin domes upward. Clean, fresh and not overly sweet.

Built on a cooked custard.

The fruit box, and the only pair without chocolate in it. Worth knowing that these two are less alike than the description suggests: the bakewell is baked, nutty and warm-tasting even cold, while the strawberry custard is unbaked on top, cool and clean. Ordered together they cover most of what people mean by "not too rich", which is the single most common request.

Each tart is about 2.75" across — a few bites rather than a slice. Pastry is made from scratch and the filling is cooked for your order rather than taken from a tub, which is why every box needs 48 hours notice. Fruit is set by hand, one tart at a time, so no two boxes come out quite the same.

Nothing can be returned or exchanged — it is fresh food made to order — but if a box arrives wrong, damaged or not at all, tell us within 24 hours and it is remade or refunded. The returns policy says exactly how.

These tarts contain wheat, butter, eggs and dairy, and the raspberry almond bakewell contains nuts. They are made in a kitchen where nuts are handled, so no product can be guaranteed free of any allergen.
